Reflection and Predictions

Over at Sew, Mama, Sew blog they have a whole list of questions relating to the sewing industry. I have been pursuing other bloggers answers and it has been really interesting. So I thought I would join in on the fun. Plus they have a link up and a chance to win, which just makes it even more fun.

Looking back at the 2011 sewing scene, what trends stand out in your mind?
I think that mini quilts/mug rugs popped up all over the place. There were swaps to share them, tutorials to make them and it seemed like every time I turned around there ways another mini quilt popping up. I even ended up making a pinterest board just for mini quilts. I am slightly addicted to mini quilts myself. I only made a few this year.

What were some of your favorite things related to sewing this past year?
Quilting blogs, Quilt along and Quilting Bee. So much inspiration and sharing out there.

What did you make that you’re most proud of?
Finishing this quilt. I have had the kit for long time and I  kept saying that I was going to start quilting again, but never seemed to get to it. However, after a couple baby quilts, and a bit of blogging, I was ready to tackle my posh quilt and I love it.

It seems that I always have it with me. On trips, on the couch, in bed, at my computer. I feel like a little kid with their blankey at times. Really I am just always cold. Except, I just dropped it off at Sew Katie Jean, a local quilt shop, where she is hosting a mini show for our modern quilt guild, so I loaned the quilt to her for the month. Better make myself a new quilt quick!
What sewn projects have you seen this year that you absolutely love?
Too many to mention. Everyone is sharing such great stuff. All you have to do is check out my pinterest boards to see all the people who are inspiring me.
Just come Follow Me on Pinterest to see my nightly addiction all the things that make me want to be more creative.

Do you have a favorite sewing book or pattern from the past year to recommend?

It really came out at very end of last year, but I think it still counts as a book from this year, it is taking me a while to work through it.

I have already made two quilts from the book and have all the supplies for another. It is a great book, with well written instructions and I really enjoy everything in it.

Are there any trends you’re over and done with?
I don't think there are. Everything seems fresh and happy, at least the stuff I have been looking at.
What are your thoughts about social media? How is it going for you? What do you love or hate?
Did I mention I am addicted to pinterest yet? Maybe only a few times :)
I don't really get the whole twitter thing, I have an account, but I just haven't taken the time to really figure it out. Since I just won a blog prize because of my twitter account, I probably should take some time to figure it out.
Facebook, I do that too. Just not as much as I used to.
Blogging and reading blogs, I love.
    Flickr makes me happy.
I wish I had an iphone for instagram or that they would make a droid app for it.
I love how instant everything and how you can share with many people and get to "know" so many others.
I don't like when people are mean on social media. It makes me sad and disappointed that people think it is ok to treat others unkindly. But I really don't like that in person either.

Did you have a favorite fabric collection or print in 2011?
Umm, yes many! However, this is my absolute favorite.

What do you predict for 2012 in the sewing industry?
More thinking outside of the box. I think a lot of people are being very creative and I don't see that changing.
Can you tell us what to expect from you in 2012? Any big projects or life-changing goals?
Let see if you have been following along on this blog for any amount of time, you already know that I have great intentions, but don't always accomplish them.
However, this year, I planned to get myself organized and start working on some of my WIP, UFO, and my basket of kits/ everything I need to complete the quilt. Pictures coming soon.
I am going to be sewing some bags (part of that whole have everything to do it thing).
And I am planning on using my stash to make some quilts.
