Sigh

So you ever feel so exhausted that you just can't seem to make yourself do the things you really want to? Well, that is me this week. It has been a very very busy week and I can't seem to accomplish anything once I get home. Plus by the time I get home it is so late that it just seem to be to close to bed time to start anything.

So not one crafty, quilting, cleaning/organizing, blogging task, or photography type thing happened this week. I did attend many meetings and go shopping. Lots and lots of shopping, as we are going on a cruise and needed clothing. I know sounds rough right? Just kidding, but it did take a lot of my time for the other things I really like doing.

I seem to be having a lot of weeks like that recently. My husband suggested that I should make lists. I fear the lists would be so long that I would need one of those really long papers rolls from cartoons that when you unroll it just keeps going, just to write every thing down. I guess I should make a list or a few lists to help me out.

Any suggests on how you make lists? Or how you accomplish all your tasks at hand? Maybe how you break big tasks into little ones that you can accomplish. I would love to hear others thoughts on this.

I hope everyone else has been much more productive than I have.

Wednesday - Now

Have you been wondering where I have been? Well, it has been kind of crazy around here.

I left Wednesday afternoon and returned Saturday afternoon. I was at the CUE conference in Palm Springs, CA.

I know you all are thinking what the heck is CUE. Well it is a conference for computer using educators, and it was a blast. And no, I didn't spend the whole time by the pool.

Actually, I spent very little time there. Instead I was inside a conference center where I learned a lot. Some of it I can bring back and use right away. Other things, like using ipod touches in the classroom, well I/my district just doesn't have the funds for that. Now if someone would like to offer me a grant, then I will start tomorrow. I can really see how it could help the kids with so much.

And sometimes I was just way overwhelmed by how much technology I was trying to use at one time and could see how it could drive kids bonkers.

Oh yeah, and see that shiny red thing above. I won that mini laptop while I was there from IVS computer technology (vendor).  Please ignore the bad hair and ugly green shirt, that got me the winning raffle ticket, that I am wearing over my other shirt.

On Friday, I did kind of participate in the Friday Night Sew In. I worked on some hexagons by the pool. I still have more to go. Not much but still more.

Then Saturday evening I had a b-day dinner with my brother. He is my one older brothers and boy is he getting old :) We went to one of our favorite Turkish restaurants in town.

Next it was Sunday. Sunday was the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild sew-day. Only me, my hubby (on the shiny laptop) and one other member showed up to sew. I did see a couple other members at the quilt shop where we meet, but they couldn't stay for sewing.

Last night I went shopping for cruise clothes, as I am going on a cruise for spring break. I think I have all my bottoms (capris, skirts and such)  figured out, now I just need some tops.

Here we are to tonight.  I have been catching up on reading blogs and I am going to bed early. It was been a whirlwind of a week. I am in some serious need of some rest.

Night all!

Work in Progress Week #9

Another week and another finish, sort of.
New Projects:

None. Zilch. Nothing. Now that is a change. Still considering joining one of the Quilt Alongs though.

Ongoing Projects:

Posh Quilt Top
This top is finally done. However, next week it will in moves into the waiting to be quilted list. So I guess it doesn't get taken off the work in progress list quite yet. I need some batting so I can start the quilting. Any good ideas on design? Maybe you need a better look. Luckily I shared more pictures last night about the Posh Quilt top.

Doll Quilt for SMQG Challenge

A scrappy star for scrap-bee blocks

Two Star and Pinwheel Inspired Blocks for A Twist on Tradition bee  I have a couple good ideas in my head.

Completed tops awaiting quilting:
Loves Road

I didn't do anything with these:

Halloween Quilt (almost a UFO)

Peace Purse (Really need to just get this one done)

Hexagon Christmas Table Runner/Hexagon Christmas Pillows

UFOs -

Scrappy Bear

This week's stats:

New projects: 0
Completed projects : 0 (but I did get a top done so that is a celebration in itself)
Currently in progress - 10

Wait a second that is a bigger number. I must have miscounted last week. Strange!

Well hopefully I can get some more off my list as I am signed up for the Friday Night Sew In, which will be sewing hexagons in a hotel. Since I had forgot that I had a conference to go to when I signed up, but that won't stop me. Plus Sunday is the sew day for the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild. We will be sewing at a quilt shop in Folsom, Sew Fun, who are nice enough to let us use their space.

Posh Quilt Top

This weekend  I finished my Posh Quilt top.  This quilt has been a long process so far. I will explain that later. Lets just say it was 3 years in the making.

I really like the way it turned out. It makes me really happy to have a finished quilt top. I had hoped to have it finished before the SMQG meeting on Saturday, but at least the top is finished now. Maybe by the next meeting I will have to all quilted and ready to snuggle under.

This little butterfly is my favorite part.
So of course I put it in the middle.

And of course Suzie was there to help me take picture. I think she thinks I make all these quilts for her.

Sorry for the dark pictures that is what I get for quilting at night.

Weekend Wrap Up #1

This weekend I went to the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild Meeting. There were some wonderfully creative pieces of work. But I have to say one of my favorites was Katie's. I just adore her mini quilts!

Now I want some of the Sherbet Pips fabric. Mainly the one she bound her quilt in.

Also one our new members, Nancy, shared the book Material Obsession: Modern Quilts with Traditional Roots.  So now I want that too. Or at least to borrow it for a couple of the patterns.

I finished the top for my posh quilt. Here is a sneak peek, check back later this week to see a nice picture of it and more details.

Other than that, I dealt with a sick dog. He ate too much of his sisters food (darn husband didn't screw the cap down on the food container).

I also cleaned, grocery shopped, and did some laundry. I know the fun stuff, right?  And I decide to move my blog to here. Hope some of my followers follow me here.

I did do one fun thing during cleaning though. I got out my spring table runner. My first completed project for 2010, when I decided to start quilting again.

Now I am just trying to decided in I want to join a quilt a long.

Lily's Quilts QAL
It looks like a lot of fun. I even got out this stack of fabric.

To join or not to join? What do you think. If I do I think I would only do one block and make a mini quilt. Thanks for the inspiration Katie :)

I will have to think about it a little more.  Hope everyone had a successful and fun weekend also!

Work in Progess Week #8

Completed Projects:

Organized my office/craft room
The Dresser:
Before

After

 The bookcase:
Before

After

Awwh so much better, I only added 5 new containers from target and took over the closet in one room(to read more about it see my previous post here).

I also took time to organize my projects and realized I had much more than I have been listing. Because of this I made myself a work in progress binder. Which includes a whole bunch of things I haven't even started. I don't think I will list them on here, until I actually start them, but I am thinking of a way to list them somewhere on my blog. If you have any good idea or you have seen some I would love to know about it. I have seen some ways other have done it, but I just can't think of it right now.

Oh yeah and this week I started and completed report cards for my fourth graders. This is a huge celebration as it took me 3,000 words and many many hours, which that I would have like to used for sewing. Not that I could have since I was at work, but still.

New Projects:
Doll Quilt for SMQG Challenge
Which will include many of these fabrics

And may have some blocks that look like these in said fabrics :)

New month so new projects for my two bees:

A scrappy star for scrap-bee blocks

Two Star and Pinwheel Inspired Blocks for A Twist on Tradition bee

Ongoing Projects:
Just a couple blocks left for the Posh Quilt. I looked at the fabric last night. That counts right? :)

Completed tops awaiting quilting:
Loves Road

I didn't do anything with these:

Halloween Quilt (almost a UFO)

Peace Purse (Really need to just get this one done)

Hexagon Christmas Table Runner/Hexagon Christmas Pillows

UFOs -

Scrappy Bear

This week's stats:

New projects: 3
Completed projects : 3
Currently in progress - 9

Hey that is more than last week. I need to start finish and stop adding :)

Organizing my office/craftroom

Last week I posted about my evil dog and taking over the hubby's office. Well, I spent much of my weekend working on organizing my my crafting and office stuff. I was going to take over my husband's office but it is so, so much smaller than mine. Plus, I like my set up and the light in here. Instead I just took over the medium sized walk in closet.
I have put all my cookbooks, call my other non-quilting craft supplies, and some of my larger quilting supplies in there.

I also cleaned up my bookcase and reorganized it. Yes you do see the Cheshire Cat up there.

I bought some boxes at Target to put my work in progress projects in. I am hoping to get down to only 6 (I need one more box, but they were out).

However, while organizing these, I realized that I have a lot more than six projects. Not that I have started many of them, but I have all the supplies for them. Well, maybe not all the backing, but all the supplies none the less.

I have 3 kits that I have started on.

I have 3 sets of precut that have intended purposes, that I also haven't started on.

I have the supplies for 3 bags. Two of which are in those boxes you see above.

I  have fabric for additional quilts I have planned on making.

I have fabric for kitchen towels and a drying mat.

All I can say is oh my! I am going to try to work on these before buying anymore projects. At least that is what I am telling myself right now.

So I came up with a new binder. It is my work in progress binder. It is way too full.

I am also signed up for the Friday Night Sew  in over at Handmade by Heidi. As one of those projects has to be done by Saturday Morning for the SMQG February Challenge.

Sacramento MQG Sew Day

A couple of weekends ago the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild had its' second sew day . It was a lot of fun. We only had 4 people show up, but it was fun to sew and have others there for support. I really enjoyed seeing everyone's progress and getting sometime away from the house just to work on quilting.

I continued to work on my posh quilt. I have almost all the blocks done.

However, I messed up on my fabric cutting and I am going to have to cross my fingers and hope that I have enough fabric left over. You would think I would be able to count, but I guess not!

If there is enough fabric, then I am hoping to have the top done and my quilting challenge for February done before our next meeting. Which is really soon, like next weekend. Our February challenge is to make a doll quilt and of course I am starting at the last possible minute. So typical of me.

I have a feeling I won't get both of those done. I do have this somewhat important thing to do this week. As a teacher they kind of expect you to do report cards. I don't think I could get away with giving all my students Bs (proficient - My district doesn't use the regular A through F scale.)

I am so excited to see everyone at the SMQG meeting next weekend. I really enjoy our quilt guild meetings, as there is always a lot of inspiration.

Fail - Work in Progress #7

So Wednesdays are not a good day for me. I know I should complete my post before hand and then have it set to post, but I have been kind of busy with the whole switching offices thing and the evil having to work thing. I mean how else would I earn money for my slight fabric addiction. Anyhow, I have meetings on Wednesday. Every Wednesday in the am and every other Wednesday in the evening. So that would explain the lack of posts every other Wedesnday.

I did get a couple things done this week though.
Completed Projects:

I finished the Paris Traveler's Bag

I also finished two blocks for my bees.
ScrapBee block - I really love the little owls and do you see some Riley block in this :)
Scrap- bee Block Feb

A Twist on Tradition Bee Block
Feb Bee block for Twist on Tradition
New Projects:

After the dog fiasco I decided that it was time to move. So I am switching offices with the hubby. I have moved a bookcase worth of stuff, now for the fabric and other such items. I may even be getting a new sewing table from a friend at work who no longer sews. Lucky me :).

Ongoing Projects:

Just a couple blocks left for the Posh Quilt. I need to cut more fabric though because I guess I can't count.

Completed tops awaiting quilting:
Loves Road
I didn't do anything with these:
Halloween Quilt (almost a UFO)
Peace Purse  (Really need to just get this one done)
Hexagon Christmas Table Runner/Hexagon Christmas Pillows (dog ate the needle threader) I am NOT happy about that.
